Spanish Decorative Plates : 4/365

The village where I live has a small Medieval fair every year.  The activities are different from one year to the next but there’s always one or two shops that showcase Spanish decorative plates like the ones on this picture.

I took this a few years ago and to be honest, I’m not sure if these particular plates were manufactured here in Spain as we do get a lot from Morocco as well.

The thing is Spanish plates with hand painted designs have been heavily influenced by Moorish designs like the ones above.

There are many places in Andalucía that manufacture these ceramic plates and many of them still make it in the traditional way and paint them by hand. Each Alfarería  has a unique design that distinguishes it from other places.
